Plain English
"He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love." Loveth means loves, and knoweth means knows. A life with no love does not know God, because God Himself is love. Knowing Him is meant to make us people who love.
Devotional
A house can be full of food and still feel cold if nobody shows care. God is not cold like that. He is love, so a life that knows Him cannot stay shut against other people. Love is one of the ways knowing God shows up at home.
