The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Plain English
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." A refuge is a safe place you can run to. Strength is what He gives when ours is gone. Very present means He is help right here, not help that shows up only after the trouble is over.
Devotional
When rain breaks open, you head for a porch you already trust. You do not stand in the yard and argue with the cloud. Trouble is like that sudden rain. God is a refuge and a very present help, a shelter who is already near when the weather turns.
