The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Plain English
This line sits in the middle of a longer sentence about love, and the thought continues after the comma. In the King James Bible the word is charity, and charity here means love. Love "suffereth long, and is kind," so it is patient and kind, and it "envieth not," so it does not burn with jealousy. Love "vaunteth not itself" and "is not puffed up," which means it does not brag and it is not swollen with pride.
Devotional
At a family supper, one person gets the praise while another did the quiet work. Love does not grab the credit or sit and sulk. It can wait, speak kindly, and let someone else be honored.
