The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Matthew 6:9-10King James Version

Plain English

Jesus says, "After this manner therefore pray ye," which means you all should pray in this way. "Our Father which art in heaven" means our Father who is in heaven, and "Hallowed be thy name" means may your name be honored as holy. He then teaches "Thy kingdom come" and "Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." Prayer begins with God's name, His reign, and His will.

Devotional

At a breakfast table it is easy to start with the day's list, but Jesus teaches a different opening. Call God Father, honor His name as holy, and ask that His will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Your needs have a place in prayer, yet they are not the first line He gave.
