The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Luke 18:1King James Version

Plain English

"He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint." Spake means spoke, and unto means to. Jesus told a story so people would learn this aim. They ought always to pray, and not to faint, which means do not give up on prayer or lose heart and quit.

Devotional

A long walk home gets hard in the last stretch, and quitting looks reasonable. Prayer can feel like that when you have asked before and the answer is not in your hands yet. Jesus says do not faint. The point of His story is to keep praying, not to decide that prayer has worn out.
