Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Plain English
Jesus says He is "the way, the truth, and the life," and that no one comes to the Father except by Him. The old words "no man cometh unto the Father, but by me" mean no person comes to the Father except through Jesus. He is the way to the Father, and He says it clearly so that people can come. He does not point down a dozen foggy roads and wish you luck.
Devotional
You have been driving a long time, and you want your Father's house, not another scenic overlook. The signs disagree with each other, so you pull over. Jesus does not hand you a vague map. He says He Himself is the way, and He brings you to the Father.
