The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Plain English
Isaiah says of the suffering servant, "He was wounded for our transgressions," and "with his stripes we are healed." Transgressions are our sins, and the punishment that brings us peace was laid on Him. Stripes means the wounds of a beating. This healing is peace with God through His wounds, not a promise that every illness will vanish today.
Devotional
You sit in a waiting room and turn a worn appointment card over in your hands. Pain is real, and so is the guilt you have carried for years. Jesus was wounded for those transgressions, and the punishment that makes peace with God fell on Him. You can trust Him with the wrong, even while you still wait to be called back.
