The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
Plain English
Peter says Jesus "bare our sins in his own body on the tree," so that we might "live unto righteousness," and "by whose stripes ye were healed." Bare means carried, the tree means the cross, and ye means you. He carried our sins so we could die to them and live a right life. The healing in these words is tied to sins borne away, which frees us to live differently.
Devotional
You pick up a heavy sack so a friend with a bad back does not have to drag it across the yard. Your shoulders feel the weight that was about to be theirs. Jesus did far more on the cross. He carried our sins in His own body so we could live toward what is right.
