The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Plain English
Jesus says, "Ye are the light of the world," and tells His followers to let their light shine so people see good works and glorify the Father in heaven. Ye means you. A candle is not lit and then hidden under a bushel, which is a basket. It goes on a candlestick, a stand, and the good works help people praise your Father rather than buy His favor.
Devotional
On a dark road, a house window shows one small lamp, and a driver can see the turn. Nobody needs a speech about the lamp. They need the light. Jesus says His people are light in the world, and a humble good work can help a neighbor look toward the Father.
