The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Plain English
Jesus says, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." Blessed means truly favored under God's kindness. A peacemaker works to make peace, which is more than staying silent while harm grows. Children of God resemble their Father, who loves to make peace.
Devotional
Two neighbors stand at a fence line, and both are sure the posts are wrong. Voices rise, and nobody is listening. You can step in with a calm fact, a fair question, and a refusal to take a side for sport. Peacemaking looks like that, and Jesus says such people will be called children of God.
