The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Romans 12:12King James Version

Plain English

Paul describes the Christian life as "rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer." Tribulation means trouble. Continuing instant means staying at it, keeping on without drifting away. Hope gives a reason to rejoice, trouble asks for patience, and prayer is something you continue rather than a single visit.

Devotional

The pharmacy line is long, your feet hurt, and the trouble you carried in from the parking lot is still unsolved. You can rehearse the worry, or you can keep a quiet prayer going while you wait. Patience in trouble is often as ordinary as not snapping at a stranger. Hope can still rejoice in God while the problem remains unfinished.
