The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Plain English
Solomon says, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life." Thy means your, and diligence means careful, steady watching. The heart here is the inner person, the spring of thoughts and desires. The issues of life are the streams that flow from that spring into what you say and do.
Devotional
Late at night the television offers a story that makes cruelty look clever and greed look normal. You can leave it on and call it rest. What you feed your heart will show up tomorrow in patience, or in the lack of it. Guarding the inside is practical, because life keeps coming out of the heart.
