The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Plain English
James says, "Let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." Swift means quick, and wrath means anger. The order is the wisdom. Be quick to listen, slow to talk, and slow to get angry, because most damage happens when that order is flipped.
Devotional
Around a table, everyone starts talking before the last person finishes a sentence. You feel your own answer crowding forward. Listening all the way through will not make you smaller. It will keep anger from driving the room, which is what James asks of God's people.
