The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

1 Peter 3:15King James Version

Plain English

Peter says to "sanctify the Lord God in your hearts" and to be ready to give "a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear." Sanctify means set Him apart as holy, in the first place. Meekness is gentleness, and fear here means respect, not panic. Be ready to explain your hope, and do it in a way that honors the person who asks.

Devotional

A neighbor pauses by the hedge and asks, without mockery, why you still bother with church and prayer. You do not need a lecture with sharp edges. You need a clear reason and a gentle voice. Hope in Jesus can be explained in plain sentences, with respect for the person standing in the yard.
