The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me. Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
Plain English
David says, "Thou hast searched me, and known me," and "Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising." Downsitting and uprising mean when you sit down and when you get up. He understands your thoughts from far off, surrounds your path, and is acquainted with all your ways. Being fully known is a comfort here, because the One who knows you is the Lord, and His knowledge is kind.
Devotional
You get up in the night for a drink of water, sit a moment on the edge of the bed, and think no one sees the small routine. God knows the sitting down and the rising up. He knew the thought before you finished it. You can tell Him the thing you have been hiding, since it was never hidden from Him.
