The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Plain English
'If we confess our sins' means we tell God the truth about them in plain words. He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, which means He keeps His word and does what is right. Confession is honest, not a performance you polish until it sounds sorry enough.
Devotional
A good doctor cannot help a pain you hide behind a smile. You point to the place that hurts and you tell the truth. God already knows the sin, and He asks you to name it honestly so He can forgive.
