The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:21-22King James Version

Plain English

Peter asked how oft he should forgive, and oft means how often, wondering if seven times was enough. Jesus said not until seven times, but until seventy times seven, and unto thee means to you. Seventy times seven means stop keeping score.

Devotional

Count seven on your fingers and you still have a tally, but seventy times seven is meant to end the counting. Jesus wants a heart that keeps forgiving, far past the moment you feel generous. Trust can be rebuilt slowly, and the scorecard still has to go.
