The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

Ephesians 2:4-5King James Version

Plain English

'But God, who is rich in mercy,' loved us with a great love. Even when we were dead in sins, He quickened us together with Christ, and quickened means made alive. 'By grace ye are saved' means you are saved by God's gift, and He gave it while we were still in trouble.

Devotional

A person in a ditch cannot climb out on good intentions alone. Help reaches down while they are still stuck. God is rich in mercy, and He made us alive with Christ while we were still dead in sins.
