The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Proverbs 22:6King James Version

Plain English

'Train up a child in the way he should go' is wise counsel for parents and grandparents. It calls you to teach a child God's way while that child is still near you. A proverb is a wise pattern, not a guarantee that erases a grown child's choices. If a son or daughter has taken another road, your love and God's love are still real.

Devotional

You can show a child how to set a row in the garden and how to pull the weeds. You can put a small hoe in their hands and work beside them. When they are grown, they still choose what to do with what you taught. Keep offering what is true, and leave that grown child in God's care.
