The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Plain English
'If one prevail against him' means if one person overpowers him, two can withstand that pressure. A threefold cord is not quickly broken. A rope of three strands holds when a single thread snaps, and God strengthens people who do not insist on standing alone.
Devotional
A porch-swing rope of one strand is a worry. Three strands braided together can hold a person through many evenings. You were not meant to face every pressure by yourself.
