The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Philippians 4:4King James Version

Plain English

"Rejoice in the Lord alway" means rejoice in the Lord always, and Paul says "Rejoice" again so nobody misses it. This is joy in the Lord, not a rule that you must feel cheerful about every loss. You can hurt, and you can still rejoice in who he is.

Devotional

The laundry basket is full, and the day has not been cheerful. Philippians does not say to rejoice in the laundry. It says, "Rejoice in the Lord alway," and then it says rejoice again. Joy in him can sit beside a low mood, and the Lord does not change when the basket overflows.
