The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
Plain English
The proverb says to honor the Lord "with thy substance," your money and goods, and "with the firstfruits of all thine increase," the first part of what comes in, not only the leftovers. It then pictures barns "filled with plenty" and winepresses bursting "with new wine," an old farm picture of enough. It teaches a wise and trusting habit, and it is not a promise that giving will make you rich.
Devotional
The paycheck envelope is on the counter, and the grocery list is already long. Proverbs says to honor the Lord with your substance and with the firstfruits of all your increase. Set aside his portion first, then live on the rest with trust. The picture of full barns is about putting God first, not a plan to get wealthy.
