The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Plain English
"The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light", and they lived in the dark, step after step, and then they saw it. "They that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." The shadow of death is deep darkness, and hath means has, and on those people the light has shined. This promise looks toward the coming of Jesus, the great light for people who sat in the dark.
Devotional
A porch light clicks on while someone is still walking the dark lane home. The steps were hidden, and then they could be seen. Isaiah says the people who walked in darkness have seen a great light, and that light has shined on the land of the shadow of death. Jesus is that light for people who needed him.
