The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Plain English
The angel said, "Fear not, Mary," which means do not be afraid, because she had found favor with God, his kindness resting on her. She would conceive and bring forth a son and call his name Jesus. The news is huge, and the first words are "fear not," because God speaks comfort before he tells her what is coming.
Devotional
Before a hard piece of news, a kind nurse may say, "Do not be afraid," and then explain what is next. The angel said, "Fear not, Mary," because she had found favor with God. She would bring forth a son and call his name Jesus. Big news from God can begin with comfort, and you do not have to feel fearless before you listen.
