The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

John 1:9King James Version

Plain English

John speaks of "the true Light," the real light, not a copy, "which lighteth every man that cometh into the world." Lighteth means gives light, and every person born into the world is in view. He is speaking about Jesus, the true Light for people everywhere, not a private lamp for a few.

Devotional

A house can have several dim bulbs and still feel gloomy. Then someone opens the curtains, and real daylight fills the room. John says Jesus was the true Light, which lights every person who comes into the world. Other lights are smaller, and he is the true one, and his light is for the whole world, including you.
