The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Plain English
"As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." Received him means welcomed him, "Power" here means the right, the real welcome, to become children of God. It belongs to those who "believe on his name." Being God's child is a gift to people who receive Jesus, not a prize for the impressive.
Devotional
You open the front door and welcome a guest in from the cold. John says that as many as received Jesus, he gave them the right to become the children of God, even to those who believe on his name. He does not leave you standing on the step. Believing is how you are brought into the family.
