The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
Plain English
"She brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn." Swaddling clothes are strips of cloth wrapped around a newborn. A manger is a feed box for animals, and the inn, the guest place, was full. Jesus, the firstborn son, came near in a plain and crowded place.
Devotional
Picture a feed box where animals ate, lined with strips of cloth, because there was no room in the inn. Mary brought forth her firstborn son and laid him there. A shut door at the inn did not stop his coming. Jesus is not put off by a life that looks too crowded or too plain.
