The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

Psalm 23:2King James Version

Plain English

The Shepherd "maketh me to lie down in green pastures" and "leadeth me beside the still waters." Maketh means makes, and leadeth means leads. God does not only push His people harder. He brings them to a safe feeding place and to quiet water where they can rest.

Devotional

Sheep lie down when they are fed and not afraid. People need that too. You may eat lunch standing at the counter because the list never ends. This verse says the Shepherd leads you to green pastures and still waters, a place to stop and be cared for.
