The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psalm 23:4King James Version

Plain English

"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me." Thou means you. The darkest valley is real, and the promise is not that we skip it. We walk through without being ruled by fear, because God is with us, and "thy rod and thy staff" — His tools to protect and guide — "they comfort me."

Devotional

A hospital hallway at night can feel like that valley. The lights hum, the chairs are hard, and you do not know the next hour. You do not have to pretend the hall is bright. You can say, "You are with me," and let His presence be the comfort the rod and staff were meant to give.
