The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Plain English
A "soft answer turneth away wrath," but "grievous words stir up anger." Turneth means turns, and grievous words means harsh words, so a gentle reply can calm a hot temper while harsh words feed it. The proverb does not say you must agree with everything. It says the sound of your answer matters.
Devotional
At the kitchen sink, one sharp sentence can turn a small annoyance into a fight that lasts all evening. You feel the heat rise, and a loud answer seems honest. A soft answer is honest too, and it turns wrath aside. Grievous words feel strong for a minute and leave the anger larger.
