The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Plain English
"Give us this day our daily bread" asks for what we need today, not a storehouse of worry. "Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" speaks of the wrongs we owe God, and it ties His forgiveness to our forgiving others. "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" asks God to keep us from falling and to rescue us. The prayer then says "thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory," and thine means your, so the glory belongs to God forever.
Devotional
You can ask for bread for today and still clutch tomorrow in both hands. Jesus keeps the request daily. He also puts forgiveness in the middle, because a person who wants mercy must face the mercy they are withholding. Then He teaches us to ask for rescue from evil, not only for food.
