The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 1:5King James Version

Plain English

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." Giveth means gives, liberally means generously, and upbraideth not means He does not scold you for asking. If you lack wisdom, ask. God gives it, and He will not shame the person who needs it.

Devotional

A hard choice about money, health, or family can leave you staring at two doors. You do not have to pretend you already know which one is right. James says ask God, because He gives wisdom generously and does not scold the person who comes short. The door of asking is open.
