The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

1 Peter 1:3King James Version

Plain English

Peter blesses God, who "hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead." Begotten us again means He has caused us to be born again. A lively hope is a living hope, not a wish that already died. It stands on Jesus' resurrection and on God's abundant mercy.

Devotional

A brown stem in the yard looks finished until a green shoot pushes through after a cold month. You did not glue the leaf on. Life showed up. Mercy gives God's people a living hope like that, and the ground of it is Jesus Christ risen from the dead.
