The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.
Plain English
Paul says, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Overcome of evil means letting evil beat you and shape you into its likeness. The way through is not to copy the wrong. You answer evil with good, and good is what overcomes it.
Devotional
Someone at the store speaks to you as if you were in the way, and a hot answer is ready. If you pour the same contempt back, their mood has won. You can return a fair sentence and a small courtesy instead. Evil does not get the last move when good answers it.
