The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

Proverbs 18:21King James Version

Plain English

Solomon says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue," and that those who love it will eat its fruit. Words can wound like a weapon or feed someone like bread. The fruit of the tongue is what we live with afterward. A sentence sent in anger can stay long after the mood has cooled.

Devotional

Your hand hovers over the phone while you are still hot, ready to leave words you would hate to hear played back. They would feel powerful for ten seconds and ugly for ten days. Life and death really do sit that close to the tongue. You set the phone down until you can speak a sentence you would want repeated.
