The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

Proverbs 22:1King James Version

Plain English

'A good name' is to be chosen rather than great riches. A good name is a reputation for being trustworthy. 'Loving favour' means kind regard, and that old word means favor, which is worth more than silver and gold.

Devotional

At the feed store, a name can walk in ahead of the person. People know who pays the bill and who keeps a promise. A fat wallet can buy a sack of grain, but it cannot buy the quiet respect of a good name.
