The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Proverbs 27:17King James Version

Plain English

'Iron sharpeneth iron' means iron sharpens iron. In the same way, a person sharpens the countenance of a friend, and countenance means the face and life of that person. Sharpening takes friction, and a good friend tells the truth with care.

Devotional

Two neighbors take turns at the grinding wheel until a dull hoe will cut again. Sparks fly, and nobody is trying to ruin the blade. A faithful friend works on you the same way, close enough to help and kind enough not to leave you nicked for sport.
