The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.

James 1:21King James Version

Plain English

Set aside moral dirt and the extra overflow of what is wrong. 'Superfluity of naughtiness' means that leftover evil, and meekness means a teachable spirit as you receive the engrafted, or planted, word. That word is able to save your souls.

Devotional

You pull weeds before you set a tender plant in the row. Leaving the weeds and hoping for a harvest is wishful. Set aside what soils you, and receive God's word with a teachable heart.
