The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
Plain English
"Count it all joy" does not mean you pretend you are not sad. James is talking about "divers temptations," all kinds of trials, and trials hurt. "The trying of your faith worketh patience" means the test of your faith produces endurance. Let that endurance finish its work, so you become "perfect and entire, wanting nothing," mature and whole.
Devotional
A woman waits in a clinic chair while her knee throbs. She does not have to call the pain pleasant or hide that she is sad. She can tell God the truth and ask him to grow endurance while she sits there. Joy, in this saying, is trust that God can do a lasting work in the hard thing.
