The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

1 Peter 5:10King James Version

Plain English

"The God of all grace" has called us "unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus." "After that ye have suffered a while" means the suffering is real, and it is for a time. Then God will "make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you." Those old words mean he will mend you, make you firm, give you strength, and set you on solid ground.

Devotional

An old wooden chair wobbles because one leg has worked loose. A careful carpenter does not throw the chair away. He glues the joint, tightens it, and sets it level again. Peter says the God of all grace does that kind of work for people who have suffered a while.
