The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Psalm 34:19King James Version

Plain English

"Many are the afflictions of the righteous." Afflictions are troubles, and this line says godly people have many of them, and faith does not keep hardship off the path. "The LORD delivereth him out of them all" means the Lord is the one who rescues his people out of those troubles. You can ask for his help today while you are still in the middle of one.

Devotional

A neighbor has slipped on the ice more than once this winter. Each time, someone comes and helps him back to his feet. The falls were real, and the psalm is just as honest. The righteous have many afflictions, and the Lord delivers them.
