The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
Plain English
"Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer" is a plain request: listen to me. "From the end of the earth" means from far away, even at the end of his rope. "When my heart is overwhelmed" means when my heart is faint and covered over. He asks God to "lead me to the rock that is higher than I," a safe place higher than he can climb alone.
Devotional
Creek water is over the stepping stones, and the usual path home is gone. You need ground higher than your boots can find. David prayed that way when his heart was overwhelmed. He asked God to lead him to the rock that is higher than he was.
