The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
And David said to Solomon his son, Be strong and of good courage, and do it: fear not, nor be dismayed: for the LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee, until thou hast finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD.
Plain English
David tells his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it." The work was "the service of the house of the LORD," the temple. "Fear not, nor be dismayed" means do not be afraid and do not fall apart with worry. "The LORD God, even my God, will be with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee," will not drop you or abandon you, until that work is finished.
Devotional
A father hands his son another board for a porch that still needs a roof. The son is afraid he will ruin the family project. David spoke that way to Solomon about God's house, and be strong and do the work. The Lord will be with you, and he will not fail you or forsake you before it is done.
