The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.

Psalm 112:7King James Version

Plain English

"He shall not be afraid of evil tidings", and evil tidings are bad news. The verse does not say bad news never comes. "His heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD", and fixed means steady, set in place. The report can be hard, and the heart can still be anchored because it trusts the Lord.

Devotional

The phone rings, and your stomach drops before you answer. It might be the doctor, or a child in trouble. Psalm 112 does not promise that the phone will bring only good news. It says a heart fixed on the Lord does not have to be ruled by fear of evil tidings.
