The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Plain English
The call is "O give thanks unto the LORD," give thanks to the Lord, "for he is good." A second reason follows: "his mercy endureth for ever," which means his mercy lasts forever. You thank him because his goodness and his lasting mercy are true, not because every hour is easy.
Devotional
Steam rises off a bowl of soup, and it is an ordinary weekday. Nobody is making a speech, and the psalm still fits the table. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever. A simple meal is a fine place to say so.
