The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
Plain English
"Godliness with contentment is great gain", and a life that honors God, joined with contentment, is real wealth. "We brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out." "Having food and raiment let us be therewith content", and raiment means clothing. If you have food and clothes, that is a place to learn contentment, and you cannot haul a bigger pile out of this world.
Devotional
Beans and bread are on the plate, and the coat by the door is warm enough for the weather. You came in with empty hands, and you will not carry the coat out with you. Paul says godliness with contentment is great gain. Food and clothing are enough to practice that contentment at this table.
