The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Psalm 103:1-2King James Version

Plain English

"Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." David tells his own soul, everything inside him, to bless the Lord, and bless means to honor him and speak well of him. He says it again: "Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits." Benefits are the good things God has done, and the danger is forgetting, and the work is remembering.

Devotional

An older man buttons his coat and talks to his own soul the way David did. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits. The bus is coming, and the list of aches is easy to remember. The benefits take a decision, and he names one mercy before he steps outside.
