The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
Plain English
This line of public thanks says to give thanks to the Lord, because "he is good," and because "his mercy endureth for ever." His mercy lasts forever, and that is why the thanks are sung out loud. Thanks, his goodness, and mercy without an end still belong together.
Devotional
At the end of a church supper, someone speaks a short thanks before the dishes are stacked. It does not need a long speech. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures forever. A room of full plates is a fitting place for those words.
