The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.
And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
Plain English
On this Christmas Eve, the angel's word to the shepherds is still the right word. "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people." Fear not means do not be afraid, and behold means look, "Good tidings" are good news. The joy is great, and it is "to all people," not to a short private list.
Devotional
Christmas Eve can be full of dishes, travel, and a quiet worry about who is sad this year. The shepherds were afraid, and the angel said, "Fear not," because he brought good tidings of great joy for all people. The joy is great because of the one who was born. You can pass that good news to someone who needs it tonight.
