The reading changes at midnight Central Time, and it stays the same all day.

But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Luke 2:19King James Version

Plain English

"Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart." Kept means she held onto the words and the events, and she did not let them slip past. Pondered means she turned them over and thought carefully, and she did this "in her heart," in the deep center of her life, not only in public talk. The mother of Jesus made room to think about what God had done.

Devotional

A mother keeps a small bundle of papers in a drawer and takes them out when the house is still. She does not rush past what they mean, and Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. You can sit with one truth about Jesus and turn it over slowly. Quiet thought is one way to honor what you have heard.
